We were approached by Oakwood Agency to create a single player racing game for a permanent Thomas and Friends installation at The Toy Store on Oxford Street in London. In the Thomas and Freinds area of the store, was the single-player Thomas the Tank Engine racing game housed in a large, to-scale Thomas the Tank Engine replica. The player would play as Thomas and race against a computer opponent (Percy) down a winding section of railway track to reach a finish line (a station platform). The game was housed in the cab section of the Thomas the Tank Engine replica with controls housed below the game screen (a speed lever and two arcade buttons for releasing steam and sounding the whistle).

Next to the Thomas the Tank Engine replica was an interactive digital sign designed to look like a station platform sign. We designed this to be a customizable with customers able to enter their place of origin and then snap a photo with it and the Thomas the Tank Engine replica in the background. The sign could be edited through an accessible but out-of-view touchscreen keyboard built into a nearby column. This was a great way to give shoppers a personalized and memorable experience that they could take away with them.
